I tucked away this Quote Friday quote from one of T‘s past blog posts on blessing the obstacles that lay in front of you, as I thought it was a goodie for this week:

“You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your attitude toward what happens to you, and in that, you will be mastering change rather than allowing it to master you.”

It’s no secret that my emotions have been all over the place, hitting the 120 day mark soon after dating boy #9 ended last week (I was reeling a bit more emotionally from that, than I originally thought), to a trying week at work, to deciding what I want to do with the dating “thing” – stick it out on match.com, lay low for a bit, or a combination. Deciding to regroup , figure out what I want in a relationship, and taking some “me” time mentally is my resulting decision and I think it’s a sound one. As this quote notes, while I can’t control the things that have happened this week/month/year, I can control my approach to it, my outlook about it, and my actions to change any aspect of it that I wish.

THAT is the difference – to me – between finding, keeping, and maintaining a healthy approach to life’s obstacles, than letting them beat you down, allowing them to envelope you in sadness and angst and becoming a bitter, unhappy or overly cynical person. I never want to become that, and I hope to keep the “chin up” approach to tackling what life hands me….and to those reading, I hope this for you as well, because although it can be hard to stick to, it really makes a world of difference.

On that note, I am off to – literally – KICK off the (long) weekend. I’m looking forward to a mixture of downtime, a GNI (girls night in – woo!) and some wine (obviously) :) Happy Friday!!
