I’ve been bursting to share this detail for a few months now, but I can finally share it – I’m going to be an auntie!!!
My sister Jen (who blogs for Growing More than Vegetables) finally announced it, so I can finally share it. I am beyond thrilled for her, as it’s something they’ve been trying for, for awhile, and it feels especially special and poignant for two reasons – first, as we’re triplets, she’s the first to have a child, and it just feels so much more special, to me, to be able to experience this with her, since we are so close, and support her, and love her and (soon-to-be) baby. And second, as we near the one-year anniversary of our Nonna‘s passing, I know she is beaming down with pride because she always wanted to be a great-grandmother and she knew how much Jen (in particular) wanted to have a child (And, before I get too teary, I’m going to stop typing!).
And, as I said to Jen- which some may think is an odd comment (lol) – I just can’t wait to see what our genes “spawn” in a child – I just think it will be really neat to see what baby looks like, how much “it” looks like Jen vs. Josh, vs. our family’s traits in general. Just very, very cool and I’m so happy for them and feel so blessed that God has answered her prayers.
And, for the record, I’m going to be the best auntie EVER (back off Jess!)
~~
On another note, I’m taking the plunge on another one of my resolutions for 2010 – the year of me – and signing up for a half-marathon in September.
Mind you, I still have yet to run past 6 miles, but as I have 4 1/2 months to prepare, I’m signing up so I stick to it! My sister Jess captures our collective feelings well here, and I too love that it’s called the “Wicked Half” – cuz it’s going to be wicked hahhhd!
~~
And finally, I had dinner with Pete last night. We haven’t really seen each other in a couple of months and had to finish our taxes (way to wait till the last minute, right?!) and it was really nice to see him, catch up on life, and just, well, hang out. I missed him and it was good to connect. Interestingly, he’s grappling with some of the same issues as me – the whole dating thing/do I want a relationship or do I not – so it was good to vent about that a bit too (more on that later…).

Congrats Aunt-To-Be!!! I know how exciting it is. I have a feeling this is going to be one spoiled kiddo!!!!
Congrats on taking the 1/2 marathon plunge too. You guys are sooo much more ambitious than I am!

Thanks Heather!! yes, I am certain baby to be will be spoiled, in a good way, not a bratty way
And re, the half-marathon – you are super ambitious, are you kidding me!? You can, if I can (the non-runner that I still am!).

I still marvel at your relationship with your ex. And I’m downright mystified with your enthusiasm for working out.
So glad to see you happy. You’re going to make an incredible aunt.

Ha – thanks Nicki re: marveling at my workout motivation and relationship with Pete. I truly do value both of these things quite a bit, and the working out, well, it’s just so engrained in me that it’s a natural drive, I guess? We’ll see if my tune changes when I start training for the half-marathon – eek! And I sure hope I make a great aunt, I’m going to try my best!!

Congratulations to your sister, and to you on your impending auntitude. Exciting news!

Congrats on the news of becoming an Aunt soon. I am in awe of your relationship with Pete too. I hope that I can maintain that kind of relationship with my ex. We’re just starting the proceedings now, and so far the friendship thing is working. My question for you is, did you find your friendship/relationship with Pete drifted after the divorce was settled and you started moving on? My ex was my best friend and I find that to be the hardest part of all of this. Also did you stay close to his family?

Thank you Jen (and for visiting!). I was afraid that things would change once all the paperwork was signed and we were fully going our separate ways, and while at times, that has been the case, where we don’t get together as often or talk as often, we still somehow manage to keep it going, even if it’s not as often as it sometimes is (it ebbs and flows). As for his fam – we were never close, so no, I haven’t. Good luck -and email me anytime if you want to chat more, would love to!

Thanks Jolene. I would love to email you. I actually got inspired by you and started my own blog. I posted my first entry today. It was very therapeutic. My blog is newbeginnings28.wordpress.com. I added your blog to my blogroll. Thanks again for your inspiration.
